Glasgow Home ConversionsFree help planning a loft, garage or garden room in Glasgow

About this site

I'm Ajay Singh. I run Glasgow Home Conversions on my own, as a sole trader. I'm not a builder, an architect or an engineer, and this isn't a building company.

Why it exists

Searching for a loft conversion price tends to get you one of two things: a builder's page that says "contact us", or a directory that hands your number to a pile of firms. Neither helps much when you're still working out whether the idea makes sense.

Scottish rules make it harder. A lot of what's online is written for England, and the system here is different. We have building warrants, not building regulations approval, and our own permitted development rules. So I wanted one place that sets out the Scottish position in plain words, with the price or the rule linked to where it came from, so you can check it for yourself.

How it pays for itself

When you send an enquiry, I pass it to one local firm, and firms pay a fee for being introduced. You pay me nothing. The firm sets its own prices.

That does mean I have a reason to get you to fill in the form. I'd rather say that outright. It's also why every price and rule on this site names its source: you don't have to take my word for any of it.

How firms are chosen

I look for independent firms that do this kind of work in the area and want enquiries. I look them up in public records, such as Companies House, and read what customers have said about them where that's public.

That's a sense check, not a guarantee. I don't vet, inspect, insure or accredit anyone, I don't supervise any work, and I can't promise a firm will be right for your job. A firm isn't endorsed by me because it receives your enquiry. Before you sign anything, ask to see their insurance, get the quote in writing, and ask to speak to someone they've worked for. There's a list of questions here.

If a firm lets you down, please tell me. It won't undo a bad job, but it's how I decide who keeps getting enquiries.
